P90X Lean - Day 9

Hey all! Sorry I haven't posted in a while - school work has really caught up to me! I have a huge presentation and an exam tomorrow, but after that it should be smooth sailing (and longer posts)!!!

I've been following a pretty well balanced diet. Lots of Lean Cuisine/Smart Ones/Healthy Choice dealies. Still haven't lost any poundage, but I'm just going to cross my fingers and keep going. I should get my new set of tapes any day now (hopefully today!), so I'll read up on the nutrition guide in there as well. That also means that I'll FINALLY be able to Kenpo and Yoga. And EVERY OTHER TAPE other than Cardio X and Synergistics hahaha. Keep on bringin it Xers!

P90X Lean - Day 5

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday - college life (aka work) really caught up with me. But now I'm one lab report and one computer science quiz down, so I'm back!

As far as yesterday goes - minor problem. Well, not so minor. It turns out that the company I ordered my DVDs from was faulty, despite the fact that the CDs were factory sealed in the box. Each CD back was marred with some sort of glue - it looks like they were just rejects from the real program. SO I had to go online and get a whole new set, this time from BeachBody.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get your CDs from ANYWHERE but Beachbody! Yea, they may be higher in price, but it is the best investment!

I ate a pretty well-balanced diet all yesterday, starting with an AMAZING breakfast casserole w/ canadian bacon, eggs, swiss cheese, and some hash brown potatoes. It is one of the best things I've ever tasted, this one is again from the Weight Watchers Cookbook (less than 100 calories a serving!) I'll post the recipe later for those interested :).

For dinner I ended up going out with friends for the thursday special: cheeseburger platters. I took the bun off mine and used little condiments, but still managed to get sick from it (so is my life). Lesson learned!

After the DREADFUL CS quiz I took today, I rewarded myself with a turkey and pepperjack sandwich. I have no idea what dinner will be tonight, but I'll try and lock it up and be a good girl - no eating out :).

And no pics today - sorry guys. Today is my off day, I really don't have time to work out with a class from 10-11 and another from 1 - 5 :(. Tomorrow I'll be back in gear though!

P90xoxo,

Erin

Ew I look real haughty in pic 3. Sorry :) haha

P90X - Day 3

Wellll just finished up Day 3 and got ready for classes. Ate a banana with some PB beforehand, and had a Riceotein protein drink and an open-faced egg sandwich afterwards. I seem to be a little bloated, but that's my life - almost anything I eat makes me bloated haha. So the pooch has returned after last night's calzone, but I still weigh and look about the same so I'm not too worried. Lactaid is amazing stuff :).

Anyways, Shoulders and Arms was fun. I'm a little worried about a few things. One, I definitely felt the burn, but I didn't sweat NEARLY as much as Tony and his crew. I did everything right though - I wonder why they were basically dying when I was fine. Two, I'm intensely worried about bulking up my arms. I don't want to do that. I've done that before. I'm having a really difficult time judging how much weight I should do - the resistance I'm using now will get me just through more than 15 reps, which seems good, but I'm still worrieddd. I'll just have to let time tell.

After Shoulders and Arms came my first experience with the Abs CD. Now that's rough. I definitely could feel these. I kept up with the exercises, other than the reverse bicycle, which I just honestly couldn't figure out (haha, my legs were confused) and the scissors - only got a few of those in. My tape actually stopped with about 4 minutes left, I guess that's what I get from ordering them from Korea hahaha. I'll have to go back and see if I can clean them later.

For the rest of the day:
Lunch: SlimFast Cappachino Delight (which is surprisingly awful)
Snack: PEMMICAN!
Dinner: Pineapple and Honey Glazed Chicken...maybe with some Jasmine Rice. Got the recipe out of the Weight Watchers Cookbook. Great stuff
Alright time for me to go to class. Pictures will be up later.

Pictures for day 2! And guess what - I'm SO AMAZING that I managed to cut my head off in every picture! hahaha I'll work on that for tomorrow. From now on, pictures will be taken post-workout, post-shower, so I'm not such a hot mess :)

P90X Lean - Day 2

Well boys and girls, I just finished day 2 of P90X, Cardio X. Let me tell you, honestly, I dreaded this. I hate the word "cardio". To me, cardio means "running". But it wasn't like that at all. It was...fun! A lot of fun! As Tony mentions in the beginning of the tape, this cardio workout is a mix of many kinds of exercises: aerobics, core, plyo, and a good amount of kenpo (martial arts). The tape really isn't that long either - only 30-40 minutes of intense cardio. The great thing is it isn't exhausting or impossible. It's fun, you can go at your own pace, and you work up a great sweat. I was able to keep up with the entire tape but fell out at the very last exercise, Superman-Banana, partially due to the fact that I kept rolling into my fireplace and decided to just give up :).

I ate a banana before the workout and made up a protein drink afterwards. Since I have a ridiculous amount of food allergies and am not able to use whey powder, I somehow got my hands on this organic powder called Riceotein. For those of you out there who have food allergies, this stuff is amazing - no gluten, lactose, whey, or soy. It's made of brown rice (weird) but it actually tastes bearable - pretty good, even. I had some with some lactose free milk and it was like a big ol glass of chocolate milk right after a workout :). I also ate half a slice of cheddar cheese and a piece of bacon. Lunch will be a Healthy Choice meal - turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes. I feel like that's always a good bet, as far as any prepackaged meal goes. I'm making a little calzone for dinner (and I'm fuckin pumped out of my mind about it), which surprisingly (according to my online food journal/calorie counter) won't turn out to be that bad.
Well, until tomorrow...

Alright, back in action halfway through the day. I'm actually in class right now, but it is ridiculously boring and tedious :). So I did Core Synergetics today and I'm not gonna lie, it was freakin sweet. It actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, amazingly. This is obviously due to the fact that I've been working out regularly, especially doing yoga from Budokon, which really strengthens the core and is very focused on that plank push-up position. Not that it made the workout any easier! I was able to do everything, but I definitely fell out a couple times during some of the push-ups. I couldn't do the Sphynx Pushups at all. I don't understand the technique - it was actually easier for me to do them closer in to my body - opposite of what he states. I also had trouble with a couple exercises due to lack of balance - those reach up/reach down pushups are hard to do on a very soft mat on a very soft carpet - gonna have to relocate to a hardwood floor :). But the tape was a great intro - for all of you trying to figure out if P90X is right for you, I can just say that day 1 I was able to keep up, but only due to the fact that I was already pretty physically active. If you're not, than no worries - if you try it out and try your best, you'll get it over time!

PS - the instructor is freaking HYSTERICAL. I love him. From what I've read, some people think he's annoying, but I think he's the perfect blend of encouragement, pushing us to do our best, and just totally cracking me up.

As far as diet goes, I had a handful of dry cereal before the workout just to put something in my stomach. Afterwards, I totally crushed an open-faced egg sandwich on multigrain bread with a cup of coffee and some V8 splash. On my way to class, I had a SlimFast, which has held me over for a few hours. I'm ready for my snack - some amazing Pemmican Jerky. I urge you all to try it! I guess I have to wait for this 3 hour long class to take a break - I don't know how rude it is to eat in a class with, like, 4 people in it haha. Dinner should be a low-fat chicken pad thai that my boyfriend got from Costco. He's psyched about it, but I'm a little skeptical haha. So we'll see how it goes and if it's awful I'll just heat me up some SmartOnes ravioli :).

P90X Lean - Day 1

Alright everyone, here we go. After obsessing over starting P90X for the past three weeks, it will all go down in about 30 minutes. I've been obsessing over something new for the past couple of days - whether to do P90x Classic or P90x Lean. I think I'm going with lean - though classic sounds more enticing, I've done the bodybuilding route before, and I would rather focus on becoming longer, leaner, and skinnier than muscling up into a total beast :). If anyone did lean instead of classic and regretted that decision, please let me know. Regardless, I can always just do the classic for round 2!

Here are some starting stats:

Height: 5'6''
Weight: 127 lbs

Bust - 35"
Chest - 30.5"
Waist - 33"
Hips - 35.5"
Shoulders - 40.5"? Kind of difficult to measure yourself :)
Bicep - 11" (flexed)
Thigh (8" above knee) - 18"
Thigh (12" above knee) - 21"
Calf - 12.5"

% Body Fat - No idea, unfortunately

For the past year, I've become very actively involved in several different kinds of martial arts. This has really changed my body. Recently, I started doing Budokon, which combines yoga, martial arts, and meditation. I LIVE for it, and it is changing my body, slowly but surely. But I'm taking a break to do this and lose that belly pooch that keeps rolling over my yoga pants! I may only be doing P90x for 45 or 60 days. I really like the way I look, and I just want to tighten up a little and lose that layer of fat around my entire body. So we'll see how it goes!

OOOOf - check out that side pic! Hahahaha
